It's the war Between VP Binay and Korina Sanchez (article from Media Newser Philippines)

Vice President Jejomar Binay's team has filed a complaint to KBP (Kapisanan ng mga Broadkaster ng Pilipinas) against ABS-CBN and its anchor Korina Sanchez for allegedly omitting his name on TV Patrol.

The complaint was filed last Tuesday, March 2, seeking an appropriate action for the alleged omission of the VP's name on TV Patrol during Korina's turn to read the news.

“It’s either ‘by the Vice President’ or ‘the Vice President,’ but never ‘Vice President Jejomar Binay’ or ‘Vice President Binay,’” said Joselito Salgado, Binay's spokesperson during an interview with Philippine Daily Inquirer.

Salgado said that the omission happened during the November 11, 2010, February 17 and 24, 2011 broadcasts of Sanchez' nightly newscast TV Patrol.

We wish to be clarified if it is the editorial policy of the ABS-CBN news desk to omit the name of Vice President Jejomar Binay in the lead or in the anchor's spiels on stories about him.

It has come to our attention that on at least three occasions (November 11, 2010: "VP Binay umaming walang ebidensya vs. De Castro at Ortille"; February 17, 2011: "Pamilya gustong makapiling si Sally sa huling sandali"; and February 24, 2011: "Marcos sa Libingan ng mga Bayani"), your news reader Korina Sanchez did not mention the name of Vice President Binay in her spiels.

While we do not want to intervene in any way in your editorial policies, we would like to be enlightened if such a policy of omission exists, and if it does, why it apparently applies only to the Vice President.

If there is no such policy on Vice President Binay, and if his name was not included in the spiels, we feel that your attention needs to be called to the unprofessional conduct of Ms. Sanchez, whose husband, as we all know, is former Sen. Mar Roxas who lost to the Vice President in the last election.

Bong Osorio, head of ABS-CBN Corporate Communications just released a statement with regards to the complaint filed by VP Binay's team saying: "There is no policy of omission in our news organization. The complaint raised by Mr. Joey Salgado has been referred to the network ombudsman."

VP Binay was Roxas' biggest opponent during the 2010 election wherein the latter lost to Binay. Roxas and his team has since filed a protest before the Presidential Electoral Tribunal.

My first blog entry of 2011

Hey there! It's been a long time since I'm too busy from school. How's your New Year? Have you planned to do your New Year's Resolution? In my own case, I don't know if I will follow my plans for this year. It's just because, it's getting more pressured everytime I look at my calendar. Well, I can handle this with the help of my family and friends who keeps on supporting me. And most of all, I believed in faith with God. I'm very thankful for the good start of this year. I hope it may be a prosperous year for me as a soon-to-be graduating student.

Keep on smiling for 2011,
Jessy
